Die sogenannten Pausenmusiker zum ersten Mal auf den Balkon des Festspielhauses

The Bayreuth Festival schedule for the upcoming festival season has now been published.

Next year will feature a new production of Richard Wagner’s main work, “Der Ring des Nibelungen”, with musical direction by conductor Pietari Inkinen. Valentin Schwarz is directing, and Andrea Cozzi is designing the stage. Andy Besuch is responsible for the costumes. In addition to the three complete “Ring” cycles, the programme of the 109th festival includes revivals of the productions “Tannhäuser”, “Lohengrin”, and “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”. Axel Kober will conduct “Tannhäuser” and two “Lohengrin” performances. To mark Ludwig van Beethoven’s 250th birthday, a performance of the IX. Symphony, conducted by Marek Janowski, will conclude the 2020 season.
