Please note: The Bayreuth Festival sells tickets for its performances exclusively directly to visitors of the performances. Orders from tour operators or commercial resellers will not be considered. Any allocated tickets may be blocked.
Processing of your orders
Ticket orders are processed on a “first-come-first-served” basis, taking into account waiting years and credit balances.
Your ticket invoice
Provided we are able to fulfil your wishes in full or in part, you will receive an invoice by 22 November 2023 at the latest as an offer to purchase the tickets. You will have two weeks to settle your invoice. Only after receipt of payment will you be entitled to the tickets you have ordered. If payment is not received in time, your invoice will be automatically cancelled and you will no longer be entitled to the tickets ordered.
Payment is only possible in euros, by bank transfer, PayPal, Klarna or credit card. Please be sure to quote your invoice and customer number. After receipt of payment, customers with a verified e-mail address will receive a payment confirmation by e-mail.
If you settle your invoice within the payment deadline, the event attendance contract is concluded. If you have not received an allocation, it will be possible to purchase tickets in our online instnat purchase from 3 December.
Personalisation of your tickets
All tickets sold by Bayreuther Festspiele GmbH are personalised with the visitor’s full name. If you order tickets by post, please fill in the personalisation form enclosed with the invoice legibly and return it to us.
or send us an e-mail with the names of the ticket holders for the performance in question. Online customers can personalise their tickets in their personal customer area “My Festival”.
It is not absolutely necessary to print out the tickets; you can also show them to our admission staff on your mobile phone. If, for unforeseen reasons, the visitor’s name originally entered changes, please contact the Festival ticket office up to 24 hours before the start of the performance.
Instant online purchase on December 3rd, 2 p.m.
In principle, all registered interested parties are expected to be able to purchase tickets without consideration of waiting periods. Tickets for single parts of the RING DES NIBELUNGEN can also be purchased online from 3 Dec.
Note: At the beginning of the online instant purchase, there may be longer waiting times, as experience shows that several thousand people want to purchase tickets at the same time, but for technical reasons the number of visitors to the web store is limited.
Payment in online instant purchase
The payment of the tickets is only possible in Euro. To pay your cards you can use PayPal, Klarna and instant payment by credit card (VISA, MasterCard and American Express).
The handling fee for each charged ticket is 6 €.
A return of the tickets is generally excluded.
Please note that purchasing tickets for Purposes of industrial or commercial reexpression is prohibited and independent of such activity for the transfer or resale of admission tickets Assignmeents prohibitions apply. Accordingly, it is in particular not permitted resell admission tickets at a higher price than the original ticket price or to offer tickets for sale at internet auctions.
The Bayreuth Festival reserves the right to refuse to sell tickets to any person who violate these prohibitions. This applies to tickets that have already been purchased by blocking them without replacement as well as for future purchases in subsequent Festival seasons.
In this respect, the General Terms and Conditions apply (cf. Section 10 of the General Terms and Conditions Ordering Procedure and Section 9 of the General Terms and Conditions Online Instant Purchase). Please refer to the details there.
Personalization of your tickets
All tickets sold by the Bayreuther Festspiele GmbH are provided with the name of the purchaser and must be personalized by the purchaser with the name of the respective visitor. In addition, each visitor must provide a telephone number or e-mail address for contact tracking purposes in the event of an infection. This data is automatically deleted no later than four weeks after the start of the performance.
In the case of “print-at-home” tickets, personalization takes place before printing in the respective personal customer area “My Festival”. Users of hardcopy tickets will receive their tickets only after they have been personalized either in the respective personal customer area “My Festival” or, if the orderer does not have such an area, by means of an appropriate form. The form will be sent with the invoice and must be completed and returned by the deadline.
Your visit to the performance
In 2023, there was no verification of vaccine or convalescent status for entry, nor was proof of a negative antigen test required. The need for prior registration for the audience was eliminated. We recommended wearing a mask during performances; there was no longer an obligation to do so.
Please arrive at the Festspielhaus in good time and bring an identity document (e.g. ID card/passport) for control purposes.
Note: Members of the “Gesellschaft der Freunde von Bayreuth e. V.” order their tickets directly through their office.
