Andy Besuch

  Andy Besuch, born 1983 in Berlin, studied stage and costume design at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts.

He works for various theaters as well as for national and international film productions. His work at the theater includes i.a. the Schauspiel Köln, the Schauspiel Hannover, Das Weiße Rössl at the Schauspiel Düsseldorf, The Fall of the House Usher (Director: Suse Wächter) at the Residenztheater München.
Numerous productions such as Measure for MeasureDer Meister und Margarita and Baby Jane are produced at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, as well as Othello at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and Platonov for the Staatstheater Augsburg. For Patrick Wengenroth he creates the costumes for The bitter tears of Petra von Kant at the Schaubühne Berlin. At the Thalia Theater Hamburg he compiles the costumes for The Neverending Story, which have been awarded the Eva Bonacker Prize. Much discussed are the costumes for the Spoliansky Revue How to become Rich and Happy at DNT Weimar, the Monty Python Musical Spamelot at the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, as well as Fidelio (director: Florian Lutz) at the Opera Halle. Andy Besuch is creating costumes for The Polish Wedding at the Graz Opera, for Falstaff at the Bremen Opera (directed by Paul-Georg Dittrich) and for the musical Sweeny Todd at the Opera Halle (Director: Martin Miotk)
Numerous high-value commercials, he created with Aleksander Bach and Hanna Maria Heidrich, won several gold medals in Cannes. For Florian Sigl he developes costume concepts for international series formats and opera movie adaptations. Among other things, Andy Besuch creates costumes for the movies SommerhäuserJunges Deutschland and for Bolzanogold by Peter Greenaway. With the stage designer Martin Miotk and the Opera Lab Berlin, he creates Costumes for productions like Love & Diversity under the direction of Manos Tsangaris and Gunfighter Nation by Evan Gardener. For Elfriede Jelinek's Abraumhalde he developed the costumes at the Theater Bonn (directed by Simone Blattner) as well as for the world premiere of Jelinek's Am Königsweg at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus (directed by Falk Richter).
For Am Königsweg he is award-winning costume designer of the year in the season 18/19.
The same production is also award-winning in category, play of the year, director of the year and also holds the actor of the year.
Once again at the Hamburger Schauspielhaus, the costumes for the David Bowie musical Lazarus, directed by Falk Richter, are created. Further work will follow with Falk Richter at the Maxim Gorki Theater Berlin and in Munich.
Andy Besuch creates, for the Bayreuther Festspiele 2020, the costumes for Der  Ring des Nibelungen, directed by Valentin Schwarz.
