In the 2017 festival season, the Bayreuth Festival presents a version of Richard Wagner’s “Tannhauser” specially designed for children as part of the “Wagner für Kinder” (Wagner for Children) project.
Musical direction of the children’s opera is once again in the hands of Boris Schäfer, Head of Music at the Opera in Oslo, and a number of musical assistants attached to the Bayreuth Festival. As in previous years, music is provided by the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt (Oder).
The premiere of the children’s opera “Tannhäuser” takes place on 25 July 2017 at the Bayreuth Festival Probebühne (Rehearsal Stage) IV, and this will be followed by nine other performances up to 4 August 2017.
The children’s opera for this is year aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 12, and we hope you will understand that we cannot give admission to children under five years of age.
The ambitious “Wagner für Kinder” project is made possible by the friendly and generous financial support of our main sponsor, as well as our other sponsors and supporters.
