Just in time for the festival season, Deutsche Grammophon releases Uwe Eric Laufenberg’s acclaimed production of Richard Wagner’s Parsifal. Conducted by Hartmut Haenchen, this musical masterpiece premiered in Bayreuth on July 25, 2016, and will be available on DVD and Blu-ray from July 21, 2017. Cast: Klaus Florian Vogt as Parsifal, Georg Zeppenfeld as Gurnemanz, Elena Pankratova as Kundry, and Ryan McKinny as Amfortas all shone in their roles. During this year’s festival season, the work will be performed five times on the programme, with Andreas Schager taking on the title role this year.
With Tristan und Isolde, Deutsche Grammophon established a multi-year, exclusive partnership with the Bayreuth Festival in 2016: from now on, every new production will be released on DVD/Blu-ray.
