On July 24, 2017, Bayreuth Festival will host a ceremony at 7 PM at the Festspielhaus on the occasion of Wieland Wagner’s 100th birthday.
Under the musical direction of Hartmut Haenchen, Camilla Nylund, Claudia Mahnke, Christa Mayer, Stephen Gould, and the Festspielorchester will perform excerpts from Richard Wagner’s “Rienzi” and “Parsifal”, from Giuseppe Verdi’s “Otello”, and Alban Berg’s “Wozzeck”; the ceremonial address will be given by the former director of the Bavarian State Opera, Sir Peter Jonas.
As announced by the Festival management, the public will also be able to attend this ceremony, alongside invited guests. All interested parties are requested to send their ticket request (maximum 2 tickets) with their postal address exclusively by email to festakt@bayreuther-festspiele.de by July 12, 2017. Ticket allocation will then be decided by lottery among all submissions, with no legal recourse. Admission is free; donations are requested.
