Arrival/Parking Situation

ARRIVING BY CAR

Bayreuth is easy to reach by car and is located directly on the A9 Munich-Nuremberg-Bayreuth-Berlin. Coming from the north, leave the freeway at the Bayreuth-Nord junction and then follow the signs for the city center or the Festspielhaus. Coming from the south, take the Bayreuth-Süd exit and follow the signs directly to the Festspielhaus. The Festival driveway via Siegfried-Wagner-Allee and the street “Festspielhügel” will be completely closed to traffic two hours before the performance begins until approximately one hour after the performance ends. Access to the parking lots will be exclusively via Tristanstraße or Tannhäuserstraße (coming from Grüner Baum) and the street An der Bürgerreuth. Visitors arriving via the A 9 – Exit Bayreuth-Nord are advised to leave the Riedinger Straße at Grüner Baum and follow the signs to the Festspielhaus. As experience has shown that a high volume of traffic can be expected around the Festival Hill, it is recommended that you arrive in good time before the start of the performance and have the parking fee ready, if possible, when you arrive. The parking fee of € 10,– per day for the visitor parking lots “B” and “C” will be collected directly at the entrance to the parking lots by the parking attendants assigned by the City of Bayreuth.
Three mobile AC charging stations with a total of six charging spaces for e-vehicles are available in parking lot “B”. Access is possible via the following alternatives:
– Ad-hoc charging via QR code (credit cards/Apple Pay).
– Roaming charging card as in the Bayreuth urban area
– Roaming provider app as in the Bayreuth city area.
Separate, free parking spaces will be designated for severely disabled persons with an official severely disabled parking permit in parking lot “A” or on 07/25/2023 in parking lot “B”.
As in previous years, a cab stand will be set up in the Festival Park on Tristanstrasse.
As a special service – for the first time this year – rental cars with special permission from the City of Bayreuth and for cabs can bring in particular mobility-impaired passengers with approach via Tannhäuserstraße and the street “An der Bürgerreuth” directly to the restricted area at the Festival Hill or pick them up there after the performance. Departure will be exclusively via Siegfried-Wagner-Allee. However, this regulation will be suspended on 25.07.2023.
In particular on the day of the premiere, July 25, 2023, and if necessary on individual other days, extensive no-stopping regulations will apply in Gravenreutherstrasse, Tristanstrasse, Tannhäuserstrasse and An der Bürgerreuth. Some of these no-stopping regulations will be in place from 16.07.2023 for the entire festival period. These must be observed; unauthorized vehicles will be towed away by the police.
