ARRIVING BY CAR
Extremely easy to reach by car, Bayreuth lies on the A9 connecting Munich and Berlin. If coming from the north, take the exit marked ‘Bayreuth-Nord’ and then follow the signs to the town centre (‘Stadtmitte’) or the Festspielhaus. If coming from the south, take the exit marked ‘Bayreuth-Süd’ and then follow the signs to the Festspielhaus.
Once you have reached the theatre, you will find ample municipal parking further up the hill. During the dress rehearsals and the festival the parking lots are chargeable (currently flat fee of 5,- EUR). To the north of Bayreuth the A70 connects the town with the A7 at Schweinfurt to the west and with the A3 at Würzburg.
ARRIVING BY BUS OR TRAIN
The city of Bayreuth is integrated on the railway line from Nuremberg to Dresden with the Franken-Saxonia-Express every two hours. The festival city is also connected to the ICE junction Nuremberg by regional trains every half hour. You can find further information on how to get there by train at www.bahn.de.
You can also visit Bayreuth with long-distance bus lines of various providers. The long-distance bus stops are located on the main station forecourt and in Goethestraße. All connections and information can be found at www.busliniensuche.de.
