Peter Younes

Peter E. Younes studied lighting design at the Bayerische Theaterakademie August Everding in Munich and has been working internationally as a lighting designer for opera, concerts, plays and museums since 2007. Since 2013, Peter E. Younes has been deputy head of the Bayreuth Festival's lighting department and oversees the productions of Bayreuther Festspiele Medien GmbH, where he works closely with Katharina Wagner.

 
His work includes Richard Wagner's Lohengrin at the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona for Katharina Wagner, as well as Die Walküre at the Bayreuth Festival for action artist Hermann Nitsch as part of the discourse project “Ring 20.21”. For Bayreuther Festspiele Medien GmbH, he designed the lighting for the Festival Open Air and “Opera for Children”, including Der fliegende Holländer, Tannhäuser, Der Ring des Nibelungen, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Tristan und Isolde, Lohengrin and Parsifal. The Opera Museum at the Margravial Opera House of the City of Bayreuth was opened in 2023 with its lighting concept.
