Bayreuth for Everyone
Richard Wagner dreamed of festivals for everyone. His aim was to allow all art lovers to participate in the performances of his works. Bayreuth Festival have now taken the initiative and, for the first time, are presenting a major event together with the city of Bayreuth that fulfills Wagner’s wish in a very special way: the Siemens Festival Night.
On Sunday, July 27, 2008, from 4:00 PM, the highly acclaimed production of the opera “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” from last year will be broadcast live from the Festspielhaus to the Bayreuth festival grounds. Up to 15,000 people will thus have the opportunity to participate in the festival.
For over 130 years, Bayreuth Festival have consistently broken new ground, following the innovative and visionary ideas of their creator. In Siemens AG, which more than any other German company stands for tradition, change, and innovation, Bayreuth Festival have found an ideal partner to enable another step towards this new direction. With the Siemens Festival Night, Siemens once again fulfills its social responsibility and acts entirely in the spirit of Ernst von Siemens, grandson of the company founder, who recognized: “Our company grew great because the future was always more important to it than the past.”
