Diskurs Bayreuth 2019 with the Premiere of “Siegfried” and other Events
For the third time in 2019, the performances of Bayreuth Festival will be accompanied by an equally diverse, exciting, and extensive supporting program: “Diskurs Bayreuth” offers eight very different events over eleven days during the festival season in 2019 (https://www.bayreuther-festspiele.de/programm/diskurs-bayreuth/).
On August 13, 2019, the premiere of the play “Siegfried” will take place at the Kulturbühne “Reichshof”. The renowned and successful author duo Feridun Zaimoglu and Günter Senkel created this work on the occasion of the 150th birthday of Siegfried Wagner, commissioned by Bayreuth Festival GmbH. It is an artistic exploration of the versatile and multidimensional personality of the “master’s son”, the creative artist, director, conductor, scenographer, festival director, the human being in an extraordinary form and linguistically sharply pointed – a work of productive remembrance. (https://www.bayreuther-festspiele.de/programm/diskurs-bayreuth/siegfried/).
At Haus Wahnfried (Richard Wagner Museum Bayreuth), there will be four “Diskurs” concerts under the umbrella term “Music and Scene” on July 30, and August 3, 22, and 24, 2019. In addition to participants from Bayreuth Festival, the Danish composer and media artist Simon Steen-Andersen will perform in concert and live performance (https://www.bayreuther-festspiele.de/programm/diskurs-bayreuth/konzerte-2019/).
At the Margravial Opera House Bayreuth, a World Heritage Site, a Liederabend (song recital) with the globally celebrated bass Günther Groissböck (at the Bayreuth Festival 2019 as Veit Pogner in “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” and as Gurnemanz in “Parsifal”) and pianist Alexandra Goloubitskaia will take place on August 12, 2019.
Tickets for the performances of “Siegfried”, the four “Diskurs” concerts, and the Liederabend can be purchased starting May 12, 2019, 2 PM, in presale on the Ticketmaster ® portal, either online at https://www.ticketmaster.de/artist/bayreuther-festspiele-tickets/957968?camefrom=de_va_05447 or at one of the authorized ticket outlets (https://www.ticketmaster.de/help/outlet_search.html?language=de-de) .

A symposium titled “Scene Makers” will also controversially address the topic of “Richard Wagner’s Music Dramas and their Scenic Realization” from August 2 to 4, 2019 at Haus Wahnfried.
