Joachim Goltz

After completing his studies at the Detmold University of Music, Joachim Goltz was a member of ensembles at theatres in Würzburg and Wiesbaden, among others. Since 2014, he has been a member of the ensemble at the National Theatre Mannheim, where he has appeared in roles such as Klingsor (Parsifal), Don Pizarro (Fidelio), Kaspar (Der Freischütz), the title role in Der fliegende Holländer and Alberich (Der Ring des Nibelungen), which also led to a guest performance in South Korea. He also made his debut in Mannheim as Beckmesser (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg) and Golaud (Pelléas et Mélisande). His repertoire includes roles such as Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde), Amfortas and Klingsor (Parsifal), the title role in Verdi's Falstaff, the four villains (The Tales of Hoffmann), Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) and Faninal (Der Rosenkavalier). 

 
Guest engagements have taken him to the Semperoper Dresden, the Komische Oper Berlin, the Staatsoper Stuttgart, the state theatres of Hanover, Darmstadt, Nuremberg and Saarbrücken, the German National Theatre Weimar, as well as to St. Gallen and Bonn. In 2019/20, he also made his debut as Don Pizarro (Fidelio) at the Prague State Opera, where he subsequently appeared in Der fliegende Holländer and Zemlinsky's Eine florentinische Tragödie. Further guest engagements took him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Düsseldorf as Klingsor, and to the Teatro Real in Madrid and the Maifestspiele in Wiesbaden as Gunther (Götterdämmerung).
 
In 2021, he also directed the operetta Das Land des Lächelns (The Land of Smiles) at the Cologne Chamber Opera and La voix humaine at the National Theatre in Mannheim, among others.
 
Joachim Goltz has already performed on the concert stage at venues including the Philharmonie and the Konzerthaus am Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin, and with Carmina Burana in Porto. He has worked with conductors such as Axel Kober, Helmuth Rilling, Dan Ettinger, Stefan Soltész, Lothar Zagrosek, Cornelius Meister and Alexander Soddy. 
 
After his debut as Telramund (Lohengrin) at the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, he also appeared in Wiesbaden, Würzburg, Augsburg, Nuremberg and at the Ljubljana Festival, as well as at the Dortmund Opera.
 
In 2024, Joachim Goltz played Alberich (Das Rheingold) in Singapore, the first performance of this work in that country. He can also be seen in this role in Peter Konwitschny's new production at the Dortmund Opera. In 2024/25, he returned to Dortmund in the same role and also played the part of Gunther in Götterdämmerung.
