Following the two successful open-air concerts in recent years, the Festival Orchestra will once again perform twice this summer on the hill in front of the Festspielhaus: free for everyone. On-site catering will be provided, and picnics are, of course, welcome. The third Festival Open-Air will explore Richard Wagner’s life stages through music: Leipzig, Dresden, Riga, Munich, Paris, Bayreuth – Venice, accompanying the composer’s journeys with works from countries that influenced Wagner – and, of course, with his own music. We will once again span a broad musical arc from Bach to Lloyd Webber, with additional works by Boieldieu, Bizet, Tchaikovsky, Bruckner, Verdi & Liszt.
Musical Direction: Nathalie Stutzmann
