Baritone Johannes Martin Kränzle received the German Theater Award DER FAUST on November 9, 2019. Bayreuth Festival warmly congratulates the artist on this honor.
The unendowed German Theater Award DER FAUST is an award given by theaters and their sponsors to their artists. It has been awarded since 2006 by the German Stage Association in cooperation with the federal states, the Cultural Foundation of the States, and the German Academy of Performing Arts.
On the evening of November 9, 2019, DER FAUST was awarded in eight categories, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award and a Perspective Award, at the Staatstheater Kassel. Johannes Martin Kränzle, acclaimed as Beckmesser in the Bayreuth Festival production of “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”, received the FAUST in the category “Singer/Actor Music Theater” for his portrayal of Šiškov in Leoš Janaček’s “From the House of the Dead” at the Oper Frankfurt.
