This evening, the two festival directors, Eva Wagner-Pasquier and Katharina Wagner, will receive the B.Z.-Kulturpreis.
Since 1992, Berlin’s largest newspaper has honored outstanding achievements in the field of culture with the B.Z.-Kulturpreis. In the presence of around 700 prominent guests from politics, business, culture, and the media, the festival directors Eva Wagner-Pasquier and Katharina Wagner, among other personalities, will receive the Bronze Bear in the Ullstein Hall of the Axel Springer Building for their cultural commitment. The B.Z. states: “A new spirit is sweeping through Bayreuth, the doors have been thrown open, fresh air is blowing through the venerable, somewhat dusty hall. Finally, one might say. The future cannot be stopped – not even at a festival as rich in tradition as Bayreuth. […] They [Eva Wagner-Pasquier and Katharina Wagner] had the courage to break new ground and confront the difficult family history.”
