Simone Young!

Staged portrait of the conductor Simone Young at the Bavarian State Opera

In 2024, the Bayreuth Festival will feature more female conductors than male conductors on the podium, with Oksana Lyniv, Nathalie Stutzmann, and Simone Young joining Semyon Bychkov and Pablo Heras-Casado.
Fortunately, Festival Director Prof. Katharina Wagner succeeded in securing Simone Young for the musical direction of the Ring des Nibelungen, as Philippe Jordan, to his great regret, had to cancel his conducting engagements for the Bayreuth Ring, which he had greatly looked forward to. Other commitments have unfortunately made the planned Ring conducting engagements impossible for him. With Simone Young, a female conductor will conduct the Tetralogy in Bayreuth for the first time. Her engagement had long been a special concern for the artistic director, but other commitments had unfortunately not allowed for an earlier collaboration.
