Breathe / Listen

If you are out at this hour and in this place, it is because you desire something you do not have; and that something I can procure for you.

A bridge at night.

Five figures dance, speak, and sing beneath it. They tell their stories—true and invented—and explore their desires together. Based on Richard Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde, three dancers, a singer, and a speaker explore the themes of body, intimacy, and the desire for connection. A 60-minute performance is created under the Bayreuth overpass, in which different voices weave a complex tapestry around a contemporary practice of desire.

BREATHE/LISTEN takes place without a classic division into audience and stage, so the audience moves with the performance. Only a limited number of seats are available; otherwise, standing room is provided. Please ensure you wear sturdy footwear.

July 26, 2025, August 01 + 02, 2025, 10 PM each
