Born in Germany, Frank Philipp Schlössmann studied set and costume design at the Mozarteum Academy of Art in Salzburg. Since then he has worked as freelance designer for such directors as Andreas Homoki, Olivier Tambosi, Götz Friedrich and Harry Kupfer. He has worked for companies including the three opera houses in Berlin, the Teatro Bellini in Catania, the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa and the Teatro la Fenice in Venice, the Hamburg Staatsoper and the Staatsoper Munich, Staatsoper Dresden and Staatsoper Hannover, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf and the Cologne Opera, Amsterdam Opera, Zurich Opera House, the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the New National Theatre in Tokyo, the Metropolitan Opera, the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Houston Grand Opera, Dublin Opera, Vienna’s Volksoper, the Opernhaus Basel, the Opéra du Rhin in Strasbourg, the Teatro Liceu in Barcelona and the Budapest State Opera. Some of the recent years projects include Der Ring des Nibelungen at the Bayreuth Festival, Tosca at the English National Opera in London, Attila at the Mariinsky Theatre St. Petersburg, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at Komische Oper Berlin, The Makropulos Affair with the San Francisco Opera and Manon Lescaut at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, Falstaff at the Staatsoper Hannover and Die Fledermaus at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
