On December 12, Oswald Georg Bauer, a distinguished Wagner expert and connoisseur of Bayreuth Festival, passed away. After his doctorate in Vienna, he worked as a research and artistic assistant for Wolfgang Wagner between 1974 and 1985, and from 1976-1986 he was head of the press office. From 1986 to 2004, he was a freelance collaborator for Wolfgang Wagner and concurrently General Secretary of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. Alongside extensive international exhibition, lecture, and teaching activities, he published numerous publications on theater history, especially on Richard Wagner and Bayreuth Festival.
