“Meistersinger Von Nürnberg” in the Project “Wagner for Children” at the Bayreuth Festival 2019

Die sogenannten Pausenmusiker zum ersten Mal auf den Balkon des Festspielhauses

With a version of Richard Wagner’s “Meistersinger von Nürnberg” specially created for children aged 8 to 12, the project “Wagner for Children” enters its second decade in 2019.

Initiated in 2009 by Festival Director Prof. Katharina Wagner, “Wagner for Children” has since continuously developed and successfully and firmly established itself within the program of Bayreuth Festival, especially thanks to first-class casts with soloists from Bayreuth Festival. Since 2009, the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt has been the musical partner of the project. Further partnerships and cooperations exist with the Hanns Eisler School of Music “Hanns Eisler” in Berlin, the August Everding Theatre Academy “August Everding” Munich, and the Fair Play Foundation. A core element of the project is that children and young people are directly involved in the creation of the respective productions.

The musical direction of this year’s performances is in the hands of Azis Sadikovic.

“Meistersinger von Nürnberg” premieres on July 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM in Rehearsal Stage IV of Bayreuth Festival. Nine further performances will follow until August 4, 2019.
