Due to a bereavement in his immediate family, Valery Gergiev is unfortunately unable to conduct the performance of “Tannhäuser” on August 13, 2019. The Bayreuth Festival fully understand this and extend their sincere condolences.
Tonight, Christian Thielemann will be at the podium of the Festival Orchestra. The Festival management thanks him very much for his willingness to take over the conducting on such short notice.
