Mourning for Endrik Wottrich

Die sogenannten Pausenmusiker zum ersten Mal auf den Balkon des Festspielhauses

The Bayreuth Festival mourn Endrik Wottrich, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on April 26 at the age of only 52.

In 1996, Endrik Wottrich successfully debuted at the Bayreuth Festival as David in Wolfgang Wagner’s new production “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg”. In 2001 and 2002, he sang Walther von Stolzing in this production. After singing Froh in “Das Rheingold” in Jürgen Flimm’s “Ring” production from 2000 to 2004, he appeared as Siegmund in “Die Walküre” in Tankred Dorst’s “Ring” interpretation starting in 2006. In 2003, he was Erik in Claus Guth’s new production “Der fliegende Holländer” and gave a striking profile to the title role in the first year (2004) of Christoph Schlingensief’s reinterpretation of “Parsifal”. He last participated in the Bayreuth Festival in 2009.
We are saddened by his much too early passing.
Our condolences and sincere sympathy go out to his relatives.
