Fair Play Action Day

Die sogenannten Pausenmusiker zum ersten Mal auf den Balkon des Festspielhauses

May 14, 2009, in Front of the Festspielhaus

With a Fair Play Action Day on Thursday, May 14, 2009, in front of the Festspielhaus, the cooperation between BF Medien GmbH and the Berlin Fair Play Foundation against Violence reaches its preliminary climax.

Between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, children from schools participating in the costume competition organized in the run-up to the children’s opera, as well as interested children from the region, will have the opportunity to express themselves creatively in numerous activities. Additionally, the winner of the competition will be announced. The costume designs of the winning school will then be implemented and can be seen in action from July 25, 2009, in the first children’s opera on the Green Hill.

Rudolf Wöhrl, sponsor of the children’s opera, invites children to paint T-shirts according to their own ideas and designs. Playmobil, sponsor of the Fair Play Foundation, provides a game table with a ghost ship and pirate figures. Green Hill Toons cartoonist Klaus Häring draws with the children and creates funny quick sketches of them. A special attraction for the children will be the Fair Play Mobil – an old fire truck that serves the Fair Play Foundation as a striking and unusual means of transport and holds many surprises for the children.

The imaginative costume designs will be presented to the public for the first time in a small exhibition on this day. The expert jury, which determines the winner of the competition, consists of the following members: Katharina Wagner, Prof. Dr. Rolf Dierichs [Chairman of the Fair Play Foundation], Alvaro Schoeck [Director of the Children’s Opera], Merle Vierck [Stage Designer of the Children’s Opera], and Monika Gora [Head of Equipment at Bayreuth Festival]. The winner will be announced around 3:30 PM in front of the Festspielhaus.
