Katharina Wagner’s Sensational Production Now Available on DVD
From December 2, 2008, the double DVD “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” will be available in the Festival Shop and in specialist stores. This marks the first time a current Bayreuth Festival production is available as a live recording of a performance.
The performance was recorded on July 27, 2008, which was also streamed live on the internet and shown as a public viewing at the Siemens Festival Night on the Bayreuth festival grounds. Nearly 40,000 enthusiastic visitors attended.
After several festival years without audiovisual recordings, the newly founded BF Medien took the initiative and found the suitable partner in the video and film production company United Motion for the artistically and technically complex realization of the project of a live recording from the Festspielhaus.
In addition to the complete work, the finished DVD includes bonus material on the creation of the production (making of) and on the Siemens Festival Night. It costs 29.90 Euros.
