German journalist, critic, and dramaturg Till Briegleb has been collaborating with director Ersan Mondtag since 2018. Their joint productions have included Franz Schreker’s Der Schmied von Gent at Opera Vlaanderen (2020, co-produced with the National Theater Mannheim), Kurt Weill’s Der Silbersee (2021, co-produced with the Opéra national de Nancy-Lorraine), Salome (2024) at Opera Vlaanderen, Der Freischütz at Staatstheater Kassel, Marschner’s Der Vampyr at Staatsoper Hannover, a double bill featuring Gianni Schicchi and L’Heure espagnole at the Teatro dell’Opera in Rome, and Verdi’s La forza del destino at the Opéra national de Lyon. Most recently, he collaborated with Ersan Mondtag on the productions of Bizet’s Les Pêcheurs de perles at the Vienna State Opera and Strauss’s Ariadne auf Naxos at the 2026 Salzburg Summer Festival.

The world premiere of Sam Max’s play Double Serpent in Wiesbaden, for which he worked as dramaturg, was invited to the 2025 Berliner Theatertreffen, the festival for the most important productions of the season. He also co-wrote the play Das rote Haus, which opened the 2025–26 season at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. In addition, he oversaw the 2026 world premiere of Albert Ostermaier’s Munich Machine at the Residenztheater in Munich.

As a journalist, Till Briegleb writes about theater, art, and architecture for various German newspapers and magazines, including the Süddeutsche Zeitung, the art magazine art, and the business magazine brand eins. He has published numerous books, including Die diskrete Scham (published by Insel Verlag) and a comprehensive work on the culture of equestrian statues. He lives in Hamburg.
