Patrick Zielke
German bass Patrick Zielke is celebrated by audiences and the press alike for his riveting role interpretations. For his portrayal of Baron Ochs (Der Rosenkavalier) at Theater Bremen, he received the German theatre prize “Der Faust” as “Best Singer-Actor in Opera”.
In summer 2025, he made his Bayreuth Festival debut as Fasolt (Das Rheingold) and Hans Folz (Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg). In the 2025/26 season, he gave his role debut as King Henry the Fowler in a new production of Lohengrin at the Mannheim National Theatre. In the upcoming season, he will appear as Baron Ochs in Cologne and as Rocco (Leonore) at Theater an der Wien, and continue as Hunding and Hagen in Der Ring des Nibelungen on tour under Kent Nagano.
He has appeared as Baron Ochs at the Royal Danish Opera and at Deutsche Oper Berlin as van Bett (Zar und Zimmermann). Concert engagements include Verdi’s Requiem with the Prague Symphony Orchestra under Tomáš Brauner. He is a member of the Mannheim National Theatre ensemble, where he has sung Ochs, King Marke (Tristan und Isolde), Rocco (Fidelio), Fafner, Hunding and Hagen, Landgrave Hermann (Tannhäuser), and the title role in Boris Godunov. Previously, after two years at Lucerne Theater, he joined Theater Bremen, appearing as Daland (Der fliegende Holländer), Gurnemanz (Parsifal), Boris Ismailov (Lady Macbeth of Mtsensk) and Gianni Schicchi.
Guest engagements have taken him to the State Operas in Berlin, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Prague, as well as to Frankfurt, Cologne, Copenhagen, Basel, Mannheim, Nuremberg, the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Lucerne Festival. He has worked with conductors including Daniele Gatti, Simone Young and Alexander Soddy. His repertoire includes Sarastro, Osmin, Bartolo, Dikoj, Filippo II and Peneios.
Patrick Zielke studied at the Stuttgart University of Music with Dunja Vejzović and is a prizewinner of the Concours Ernst Haefliger and the International Richard Wagner Competition.
