Daniel Johansson
With roles such as Tristan, Tannhäuser, Parsifal, Calaf and Otello on his repertoire, Swedish tenor Daniel Johansson has made a name for himself as one of the leading tenors in the Jugendlich-Helden fach. He has appeared at such leading venues as the Wiener Staatsoper, Bregenzer Festspiele, Glyndebourne, Deutsche Oper Berlin, Semperoper Dresden, San Francisco Opera and the Grand Théâtre de Genève. He debuted as Siegfried in Fabio Luisi’s live recording of Wagner’s Ring Cycle with the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, released on album in 2026.
Born in southern Sweden, he studied at the University College of Opera in Stockholm. He was the recipient of the Birgit Nilsson Scholarship in 2009. In 2018 Daniel was awarded the title of Royal Court Singer and in 2021 he received the Litteris et Artibus Medal from HM The King of Sweden in recognition of his distinguished artistic achievements.
