Catharine Woodward

In 2019 Catharine made her debut as Eva DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG with Fulham Opera at the Greenwood Theatre in London (“Simply staged, and decently sung, especially by ... Catharine Woodward, as a feisty Eva with a big, keen-edged soprano” - Hugh Canning, The Sunday Times) and sang Katerina LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK in a workshop with orchestra. In 2018 she covered Aksinya LADY MACBETH OF MTSENSK for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden and performed Elisabetta DON CARLO for Fulham Opera. Further opera roles include Isolde (Act II) TRISTAN UND ISOLDE with the  Akademisches Orchester Zürich at the Tonhalle Zurich and Stadthaus Winterthur, Leonora LA FORZA DEL DESTINO, London Alice Ford FALSTAFF and Mimi LA BOHEME for Regent’s Opera, Donna Elvira DON GIOVANNI for Diva Opera UK, Edna TOBIAS AND THE ANGEL and Sarah CLEMENCY for Highbury Opera Theatre.  

 
In May 2023 she made her debut as Brünnhilde DIE WALKÜRE at the Freemasons Hall, Covent Garden which she will follow with Brünnhilde SIEGFRIED in February 2023 and full Ring Cycles in the 24/25 season. Further performances in 2023 include Kundry in a concert performance of the second act of PARSIFAL with New Palace Opera in London and title role ELEKTRA in a workshop with Regents Opera Orchestra. 
 
Catharine studied Music at the University of Durham, Vocal Performance at Trinity Laban and the Alexander Gibson Opera School at The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. She has worked at English National Opera (Opera Works), the Aix-en-Provence Festival and many other prestigious companies and festivals. Career highlights include performing at Buckingham Palace for the Queen’s Coronation Festival in 2014 and various television appearances. In 2017 she appeared in comedy series “Taskmaster” on ITV4 and in January 2018 she performed excerpts of MADAMA BUTTERFLY as a featured artist in the TV drama “Next Of Kin”.  
 
During her time in Scotland she was the subject of a documentary for the Open University (Catharine Rogers: Future Diva?),and performed across Scotland in a touring production of THE MERRY WIDOW with Scottish Opera, as well as at the Edinburgh International & Fringe festivals.  
 
Since 2015 she has worked with voice teacher Pamela Kuhn and is now based in Berlin.
