The Bayreuth Festival Choir (Choir Director Thomas Eitler-de Lint) is seeking the following for the 2027 Festival

Choir singers (m/f/d) in all voice groups

Start of employment: June 19th, 2027

End of employment: August 24th, 2027

Application deadline: October 5st, 2026

The Bayreuth Festival is one of the world’s most famous music theatre festivals. It has been running for more than 140 years and takes place every summer, exclusively featuring performances of Richard Wagner’s works. It employs 65 people year-round and up to 800 during the festival.

The city of Bayreuth and the Upper Franconia region offer a high quality of life in a beautiful rural setting with plenty of leisure activities.

Rehearsal period: June 16th – July 24th, 2027

Performances: July 25th – August 24th, 2027

  • a completed university degree (in singing) or equivalent qualification
  • a good command of the German language
  • Experience as a chorister in opera houses and/or broadcasting organisations is desirable
  • Choristers of the Festival Choir must have learnt the repertoire for the 2027 festival season by heart by the start of the rehearsal period

Auditions are scheduled to take place from November 2026 through January 2027 in the following cities:

Leipzig, the Rhine/Ruhr region, Brussels, Amsterdam, London, Vienna, Barcelona/Madrid

Please indicate in your application which of these locations would be most convenient for you to attend an audition. There is no guarantee that your request will be accommodated.

An invitation to audition will be sent following a thorough review of your submitted materials. The audition program will be announced as part of the invitation.

Severely disabled applicants will be given preference if their aptitude and qualifications are otherwise essentially the same.
