Particularly in focus is the unique concertante world premiere “Brünnhilde brennt: Ein Spiel mit dem Feuer” by Bernhard Lang and Michael Sturminger on 3 August at the Friedrichsforum Bayreuth. Two female characters – in truth one and the same person – struggle with each other and with the Ring, full of passion and devotion to their goal: the stage, which is life itself. Following the great success of “Atmen/Lauschen”, director Hendrik Arns returns with “venus, engel & die nacht”. After a one-year creative break and a symbolic descent beneath the Hochbrücke Bayreuth, Bayreuth’s red-and-yellow-capped hero experiences a surprising return – to the parking garage of the Oberfrankenhalle. In this 60-minute revue noire, theatre, singing, choir, and a cheerleading group come together in a game between pop and Wagner, Venus and Night, angels and abyss. A thrilling, multilayered experience about despair, dissolution, and possibly even becoming one.
