The newly founded wahnfood GmbH from Bayreuth will take over the catering for the festival guests in Bayreuth this year. After the difficult year 2021 due to the pandemic, the festival now once again offers extensive catering for all visitors to the Green Hill.
This year, the festival gastronomy will operate somewhat differently than in the years before the Corona pandemic. The needs of the audience have changed, as have their demands.
This year, wahnfood GmbH will reorganize the areas of festival gastronomy. The previous festival restaurant will become a large self-service summer garden – called Festival Garden – which will also be partially covered and weather-protected in the outdoor area. There, in addition to the beverage offerings, including those from the proven sparkling wine partner Geldermann, there will be a self-service area with a so-called smart-food concept.
Guests will be catered for with small, delightful portions, thoughtfully healthy and regionally sourced – from cakes, to appetizers, main courses, and desserts. Inside the Festival Garden, guests can freely take a seat at tables, while in the covered outdoor area, standing tables offer an opportunity to discuss their experiences.
The former self-service restaurant to the right of the Festspielhaus will be renamed “Green Hill Kitchen”. Here, a similar food and beverage concept, as in the Festival Garden, will be offered at an all-inclusive price. Guests can also reserve a table here in advance. In the Green Hill Kitchen, guests can serve themselves at the respective buffet stations. Seating areas are located within the Kitchen itself or on the adjacent weather-protected terraces, which are used as lounges.
In the outdoor gastronomy area to the left of the Festspielhaus, at the new festival kiosk, there will be a “Walk of Fame” with various food stations. Here, you can enjoy the festival bratwurst, the festival pretzel, or the new festival pastry alongside cold and hot beverages at standing tables that are weather-protected and usable even in the rain. The concept is rounded off with various To-Go stands under the name “Wagner-To-Go”, which are distributed across the festival grounds and into the festival park, offering beverages, coffee, ice cream, etc. For picnic fans, there will again be a special festival basket including a blanket and crockery for the first intermission, and on selected days, an exclusive oyster bar.
Payment will be possible for the first time at all stands with the new Festspielgourmet-tickets. This Klick-tickets will be available with various credit amounts, they can be used at any food station accordingly and can be purchased on performance days from 1:00 PM at the ticket counters around the Festspielhaus or in advance online and in various shops in the city from early July.
