On Sunday, March 21, 2010, Wolfgang Wagner passed away in Bayreuth at the age of 90. The Bayreuth Festival mourn their long-serving festival director.
Wolfgang Wagner dedicated his entire life to the legacy of his famous grandfather. Not only did he repeatedly
engage interpretatively with Richard Wagner’s works in numerous productions, but he also steered the fortunes of the Bayreuth Festival for more than half a century, thus going down in history as the world’s longest-serving intendant.
