The 2010 Siemens Festival Night Was a Complete Success.

Die sogenannten Pausenmusiker zum ersten Mal auf den Balkon des Festspielhauses

On Saturday, August 21, 2010, the third Siemens Festival Night, featuring a true premiere, took place at the Bayreuth Volksfestplatz:

Before the live broadcast of Walküre from Bayreuth Festspielhaus, approximately 2500 children and parents watched the recording of the children’s opera Tannhäuser oder der Sängerkrieg auf Wartburg on the almost 90-square-meter screen. Afterward, the children’s course was literally stormed, where children could playfully and intimately familiarize themselves with costumes, masks, props, and stage effects.

Under bright sunshine, all available seats were occupied even before the live broadcast of Walküre. Many were familiar with the event from previous years and had brought their own seating as a precaution. Thunderous applause followed the end of the broadcast, which the soloists, coming directly from the Festspielhaus, personally received at the Volksfestplatz. The organizers were delighted by the audience’s enthusiasm and announced the next Siemens Festival Night with Lohengrin for August 14, 2011. In addition to free admission, the superimposed subtitles and close-ups, which conveyed unforgettable impressions of the stage action to the viewers at the Volksfestplatz, were particularly well received.
