The performers of the festival dedicate today’s performance of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, which concludes the 99th Bayreuth Festival, to the memory of the recently deceased Christoph Schlingensief.
His staging of Parsifal provided significant impetus to the Bayreuth Festival between 2004 and 2007. The members of the Bayreuth Festival Orchestra 2010 spontaneously and unanimously decided to support Christoph Schlingensief’s project of an opera village in Burkina Faso, Africa, with a donation of 1000 Euros.
