OPUS – German Stage Award for Karl-Heinz Matitschka

On April 2, 2009, Karl-Heinz Matitschka, Technical Director of Bayreuth Festival, received the OPUS – German Stage Award in the category “Technical Realization” at the international trade fair “Prolight+Sound” in Frankfurt am Main. This honors his work on the new production “Parsifal” at the Bayreuth Festival 2008, which “set new standards even by Bayreuth standards”.

The “OPUS – German Stage Award” is a non-monetary honorary award for stage designers, designers, technicians, and planners, which was awarded for the eighth time in 2009. With it, a jury of experts consisting of industry professionals, journalists, and association representatives has honored creative achievements in the use of technology in the design of stage productions every year since 2002. It includes the categories Stage Design, Technical Realization, Sound Design, Lighting Design, and Video.
