The Swedish opera singer and vocal coach Berit Lindholm passed away on August 12. After her debut in 1963 at the Royal Opera in Stockholm, the singer performed throughout her career at the Covent Garden Opera in London, the Vienna State Opera, opera houses in Moscow, the Metropolitan Opera in New York, in Chicago, San Francisco, Paris, Marseille, Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne, and Zurich. She became one of the most significant Wagnerian sopranos of her generation and debuted in 1967 at the Bayreuth Festival as Venus in “Tannhäuser”, 1968-69 as the Third Norn, and 1968-71 and 1973 as Brünnhilde in the Ring Cycle. We will honor the memory of Berit Lindholm.
