Bayreuth Festival commemorates Prof. Dr. Udo Bermbach, who passed away on July 10 in Hamburg. As one of the most renowned Wagner scholars, he set standards with his works on the Bayreuth Festival and the ideologically influenced Wagner reception. As founder and co-editor of the international journal “wagnerspectrum”, he provided important impulses for Wagner research. In 2000, he served as concept dramaturg in Jürgen Flimm’s Bayreuth “Ring” production.
