Record Result Achieved

At the conclusion of Bayreuth Festival 2014, its Managing Director, Heinz-Dieter Sense, announced:

With the performance of “Tannhäuser” directed by Sebastian Baumgarten, the 103rd Bayreuth Festival concluded on August 28. With approximately €12.0 million from 58,470 visitors, Bayreuth Festival GmbH achieved record revenue in the festival’s history.

A downward trend in foreign visitors observed in recent years was halted, and thanks to internet sales, 10% more visitors from abroad found their way to Bayreuth this year. The artistic performances in the Festspielhaus were celebrated with ovations lasting up to 35 minutes.

648 participants of Bayreuth Festival are leaving the city to resume work at their home institutions. Today marks the beginning of preparations for the 2015 festival, which will open on July 25, 2015, with “Tristan und Isolde”.
