On the Death of Hans Neuenfels!

Die sogenannten Pausenmusiker zum ersten Mal auf den Balkon des Festspielhauses

With the death of Hans Neuenfels, the theater world loses one of its truly great artists. Controversial yet sensitive, provocative and eccentric, a true Gesamtkünstler of the stage. His “Lohengrin” interpretation at the Bayreuth Festival provided plenty of discussion, and even entertainment. The idea of the “Bayreuth Workshop” was taken very seriously by Hans Neuenfels every year; in the sixth festival summer, his production was celebrated with standing ovations. Through his work, he inspired entire generations of actors, singers, and directors. We will honor the memory of Hans Neuenfels!
