As part of this year’s hygiene concept, registration is required before every performance visit, for which the following documents must be presented, and which must be completed up to one hour before the performance begins:
Proof of
- a recovered COVID-19 infection that is no older than six months or
- a full vaccination with vaccines approved in the EU (at least 14 days after the second dose) or
- a PCR or antigen test from the current day. Guests may also arrive with a current test result from their place of residence.
The respective proofs must be presented in original in German or English.
Furthermore, the following must be presented:
- the ticket for the performance as well as
- an official identification document (ID card, passport, driver’s license).
Every visitor must appear in person, as the accreditation process is completed by putting on an admission wristband. Without registration up to one hour before the performance begins with all required documents, it is not possible to attend a performance of Bayreuth Festival.
There will be a registration center and a small test center on the grounds of the open-air swimming pool, which adjoins the Festival parking lots (An der Bürgerreuth 8, 95445 Bayreuth). The registration and test center opens four hours before the performance begins, for the necessary registration for “Rheingold – Immer noch Loge” from 9:30 AM. Additionally, there will be a counter in the premises of Bayreuth Marketing & Tourismus GmbH (Opernstraße 22, 95444 Bayreuth; opens seven hours before and closes one hour before the performance begins) and in the ticket area of the Richard Wagner Museum (Haus Wahnfried; Richard-Wagner-Straße 48, 95444 Bayreuth; Mon-Sun from 10 AM–5 PM).
No admission after the performance has begun. We strongly recommend all festival visitors to plan accordingly more time for the registration process and to complete the registration process up to one hour before the performance begins.
The following items cannot be brought into the Festspielhaus:
- Backpacks and bags exceeding DIN A4 format,
- bulky, pointed, and sharp objects,
- objects subject to German weapons law,
- Seat cushions,
- Beverage bottles and other liquid containers, as well as
- Umbrellas that, when folded, exceed a total length of 30 cm.
Due to the pandemic, no cloakrooms are available in the Festival Hall this year, and there will be no seat cushion rental. Fanning during performances is prohibited.
For all processes (registration, admission), on all traffic routes in the Festival Hall, on the seats in the hall during the performance, in the outdoor sanitary facilities, and if the minimum distance of 1.50 m cannot be maintained, the obligation to wear an FFP2 mask applies. Exceptions, e.g., in the form of medical certificates, cannot be accepted. Due to the pandemic, the foyer is not available for stay before performances and during intermissions. The visitor toilets in the Festival Hall cannot be used this year; a sufficient number of visitor toilets will be available outside the Festival Hall.
