Franz Mazura – Bayreuth Festival 1991 " width="300" height="426">The world’s longest-serving Wagner singer, affectionately and respectfully called “Meister Franz” by Wolfgang Wagner, shaped Bayreuth’s history for over 25 years (1971 – 1995) as a steadfast presence in the bass repertoire. Last summer, to our delight, he once again traveled to Bayreuth for the dress rehearsals and the ceremony celebrating Wolfgang Wagner’s 100th birthday, as he did every year. He will remain unforgettable to us as Gunther / Biterolf / Alberich / Gurnemanz / Marke / Der Wanderer and Klingsor. He bid farewell to Bayreuth in 1995 as Wolfgang Wagner’s Klingsor!
More about his work in Bayreuth can be found in our performance database.
