The virtual festival season 2021

Wagner himself once expressed the wish that all friends of his art should have free access to the performances in Bayreuth. Since not everyone will be able to travel to Bayreuth in this second exceptional year and this year’s Festival will take place with a limited audience capacity of 900 seats per performance, we are offering the international Wagner-audiences a digital festival experience.

The Bayreuth Festival is once again collaborating with Deutsche Grammophon and presenting a total of ten different Festival productions virtually. Between the 26th of July and the 24th of August, current and also recently performed productions will be on view on www.festspiele-online.de.

In addition to Frank Castorf’s production of Der Ring des Nibelungen (2013) Katharina Wagner’s Tristan und Isolde (2015), Uwe Eric Laufenberg’s Parsifal (2016), Barrie Kosky’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (2017), Yuval Sharon’s Lohengrin (2018), and Tobias Kratzer’s Tannhäuser (2019) will be on view. The named productions are open to the public free of charge.
