Christopher Ventris

Since his earliest engagements at the Glyndebourne Festival, Opera North and English National Opera, this young British tenor has become one of the most sought-after singers of his generation. Among the high points of recent seasons are his critically acclaimed performances as Parsifal, Siegmund in Die Walküre and his role début as Lohengrin in Bologna. He has also been a notable Max in Der Freischütz, Sergey in Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District and Florestan in Fidelio. Guest appearances have taken Christopher Ventris to the Vienna State Opera, the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, Vlaamse Opera in Antwerp, La Scala, Milan, the Metropolitan Opera, New York, the Glyndebourne Festival, Zurich Opera, the Bregenz Festival, the Royal Opera, Covent Garden, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Sante Fe Opera and the Opéra Bastille in Paris. Among other roles in his repertory are Manolios in Martinu's Greek Passion, Števa in Jenufa, Lensky in Eugene Onegin, Jack in Tippett's The Midsummer Marriage, Clemente  in Henze's Venus und Adonis, the False Dmitry in Boris Godunov and Lohengrin, for which he received from Maria Callas Debut Artist of the Year Award from Dallas Opera in 2007.

Christopher Ventris made his Bayreuth Festival début as Parsifal in 2008, a role in which he can be heard also in 2009.
