The young German singer Torsten Kerl is one of the most sought-after Helden-tenor in the world.

He performs at the great international opera-houses and concert-halls in Vienna (Staatsoper, Musikverein, Konzerthaus, Volksoper), New York (MET), Milano (Scala), Berlin (Deutsche Oper, Komische Oper, Philharmonie, Konzerthaus), London (Covent Garden, London Symphony Orchestra), Dresden (Semperoper), Hamburg (Oper, Musikhalle), Munich (Staatsoper), Amsterdam (De Nederlandse Opera, Concertgebouw), Brussels (Opera de Munt), Barcelona (Liceu), Paris (Chatelet, Bastille, Salle Pleyel), Florence (Maggio Musicale), Rome (Accademia di Santa Cecilia), Oslo (Den Norske Opera, Konzerthalle), Zurich (Tonhalle), Lucerne (Kulturzentrum), Geneva (Victoria Hall), Cologne (Oper, Philharmonie), Genua (Teatro Carlo Felice), Marseille (Opera Municipal), Antwerpen (De Vlaamse Opera), Lyon (Opera National) and Tokyo (New National Theatre).

Torsten Kerl has collaborated with artists such as Daniel Barenboim, Wolfgang Brendel, Renato Bruson, Agnes Baltsa, Semyon Bychkov, Riccardo Chailly, Sir Colin Davis, Willy Decker, Placido Domingo, Dieter Dorn, Edita Gruberova, Leopold Hager, Thomas Hampson, Christopher Hogwood, Marek Janovski, Harry Kupfer, James Levine, Fabio Luisi, Waltraud Meier, Zubin Mehta, Ingo Metzmacher, Kent Nagano, Seiji Ozawa, David Pountney, Ruggiero Raimondi, Donald Runnicles, Kurt Rydl, Matti Salminen, Giuseppe Sinopoli, Christian Thielemann, Violetta Urmana, Marcello Viotti, Deborah Voigt, Wolfgang Wagner, Bernd Weikl, Simone Young and Mara Zampieri.

Torsten Kerl has won numerous awards and scholarships as a solo oboist – having begun his career as an orchestra musician and instrumental soloist – and as a singer. In 2000 he won a Grammy Award in the category “Best International Opera Recording of the Year”.
