Since January of 2011, the Ukrainian baritone Oleksandr Pushniak is an ensemble member of the Staatstheater Braunschweig (Germany), where he sings a true variety of different opera roles, including that of Figaro in Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart), Kurwenal (Tristan und Isolde, Wagner), the role of Miller (Luisa Miller, Verdi), Don Carlo (Ernani, Verdi), Amonasro (Aida, Verdi), Jochanaan (Salome, Strauss). For future seasons there, engagements will include the role of Amfortas (Parsifal,Wagner).
In November 2012 Oleksandr Pushniak awarded 1st Prize and Audience Prize at Wagnerstimmen International Song Competition for Wagner Voices. During the 2010 season, Oleksandr Pushniak enjoyed success in the role of Simone (Gianni Schicchi, Puccini) at the Castleton Summer Festival (USA), conducted by Maestro Lorin Maazel. During the same season, he was finalist in the International Vocal Competition held in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, the Netherlands.From 2008 to 2010, the baritone sang as a member of the Domingo-Cafritz Young Artists Program in Washington, D.C. (USA) where he honed his professional skills while performing with the Washington National Oper such roles as Dottore Grenvil (La Traviata, Verdi), Petrucci (Lucrezia Borgia, Donizetti ), Mandarin (Turandot, Puccini), Fiorello (Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Rossini), Antonio (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart).
In 2007, Pushniak was semi finalist in the Domingo ‘Operalia‘ Vocal Competition in Paris, and during the same time he was Prize Winner of the ‘European Song Contest’ held at the Styriarte Music Festival in Austria. While in Washington, Oleksandr performed the roles of Conte (Le Nozze di Figaro, Mozart), and the lead role (Falstaff, Verdi), under the auspices of the Young Artists Program, as well as other concert performances, including performances conducted by Placido Domingo.
In 2005 Oleksandr Pushniaks professional career began as a singer and actor, singing in a variety of concert halls in his native Ukraine, among which where the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and the Dnipropetrovsk Philharmonic.
Oleksandr Pushniak was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, where in 2007 he graduated from the National Music Academy of Ukraine, Kyiv, where he earned his degree in Music Performance as an opera and concert singer.
