Aleksandar Denić was born in 1963 in Belgrade where he graduated from Applied Arts Academy department of Film and Set Design at University of Belgrade. Since 1987 his first professional engagement on film as production designer and 1988 on theatre as set designer, he has been working on numerous theatre and film productions all over the world, among the others on Emir Kusturicas Underground. He has received different awards for theatre, film and architecture – among others nomination for Emmy Award 1996. Since 2010 professor for film, TV and stage design at Megatrend University in Belgrade. 2009-2012 President of Applied Artists and Designers Association of Serbia. Co-founder of Serbian Film Commission. Since 2011 member of National Cultural Council of Serbia. Has been working with Frank Castorf on Lady with the Camellias at Theatre de l’Odeon in Paris and Amerika at Schauspielhaus Zürich and quite recently The Duel at Volksbühne Berlin.
